LowCostHolidays.com takes Thomas Cook to Paris

In potentially one of the biggest PR moments to hit the travel industry this year LowCostHolidays.com offered Thomas Cook, 26 a paid trip to Paris after he requested compensation from travel giant Thomas Cook for the years of ribbing he received due to sharing a name with the travel agent.

A few months ago Thomas Cook posted on the Facebook page of the travel agent requesting a paid trip to Paris as a way of compensation due to the constant jokes he had to suffer thanks to having the same name. Instead of seizing this PR and social media opportunity Thomas Cook shrugged off the efforts of Mr. Cook claiming they do not offer “free holidays”.

Following this in what can only be described as a social media marketing “win” the online only travel agent LowCostHolidays.com then got in touch with Mr. Cook. Stating that if his name was LowCostHolidays.com they would have most certainly compensated him with a trip to Paris and despite the fact it wasn’t they chose to offer him the paid weekend to Paris which he had requested from Thomas Cook.

Thomas Cook took the trip to Paris last weekend and has since posted a picture of him next to the Eiffel Tower on social sharing site Reddit which has now been seen all over the internet in one of the most popular viral pieces of marketing to come out of the travel industry in the last year.
