Malmaison Hotels enters administration

The company which owns the Malmaison chain of hotels and the boutique hotel brand Hotel Du Vin, MWB Group Holdings announced last week that they would be appointing Deloitte to place the company in administration.

Despite this the Malmasion and Hotel du Vin hotels are operating as normal with business being unaffected by the changes in the status of the company. Initial fears that the hotel groups would be sold have since been addressed by the chief executive of Malmaison and Hotel du Vin who stated the hotels would not be sold due to the administration of MWB Holdings.

Malmaison and Hotel du Vin are also owned by other companies and as a result it is not possible for the administrators of MWB Holdings to force the sale of the hotel brands. The Malmaison Hotels are so unconcerned about the administration of their parent company that they have stated they are looking to drastically expand their chin in the UK over the three years.

The CEO Gary Davis informed press of the intentions the brand has in regards to expansion. 12 hotels new hotel will be opened over 3 years and this will start in July 2013 with a Malmaison in Dundee, Scotland with Bristol and York developments being considered. The Hotel du Vin brand is also looking to expand and make its presence felt in London.

Malmaison is considered to be one of the most successful UK hotel groups and July to October had seen a £1.5m growth in profit on a like for like basis.
