Travelodge In York Employs 3 Convicted Killers

Travelodge Employs Convicted Killers

Travelodge have given three women who have been convicted of killings, jobs as part of their rehabilitation, the Ministry of Justice has confirmed.

Two of the women, one who stabbed her ex-partner and the other convicted of scalded and battering her own father, are employed as cleaners.

The third, who works as a receptionist, lured her husband to be knifed to death by her lover so she could claim over £30,000 from his life insurance policy.

Jon Hendry-Pickup, Travelodge operations director, said the York Central Travelodge was one of many businesses in York supporting the government’s rehabilitation programme. “The community-based scheme helps ex-offenders who present no threat, back into society in order to reduce reoffending.”

The news that these dangerous criminals, all jailed for life, have been quietly integrated back into society has shocked and angered relatives of the murder victims.

The trio applied for the jobs at the hotel branch in Piccadilly, York, while serving sentences at Askham Grange Prison as part of a scheme to get offenders into jobs soon after they are released.

The Ministry of Justice said: “Keeping the public safe is our priority. Prisoners may be released to work only after they pass a rigorous risk assessment. Only those assessed as minimal risk of escape or risk of harm to the public are eligible.”
